Two men were arrested shortly after threatening a man with a metal pipe and taking off with his cellphone and cash at around 5 am on Monday.
Shortly after the incident, which took place on the corner of 103rd Street and 37th Avenue, the 33-year-old victim was able to point two police office in the direction of the two alleged perpetrators.
The officers caught up to the two alleged perpetrators and dialed the victim’s cell phone number that had just been stolen. The phone rang and the sound came from the jacket pocket of one of the thieves, according to NYPD.
The two men, Moses Mangandy, 18, and Samuel Rodriguez, 19, were placed under arrest.
In total, six cell phones, cash and a metal pipe were recovered. The two men have since been linked to a pattern of at least four robberies, according to the NYPD.
The two are facing charges of robbery, menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of stolen property and harassment, according to police.
The detective squad is investigating whether they are involved in other property-related crimes and are trying to execute a search warrant, police said.
