Angered by traffic ticket, man allegedly drives into cop at LaGuardia Airport

June 9, By Michael Florio

A man drove into a Port Authority police office at LaGuardia Airport yesterday, after he was being written up with a traffic tick.

The suspect, Erick Sanchez, 24, parked his 2014 Dodge caravan illegally in the middle of the roadway at Terminal B in the airport, when an officer approached the van and began writing a parking ticket at around 12:30 pm, according to a Port Authority Police spokesman.

Sanchez allegedly put the van in drive and steered into the officer, striking the officer in his left leg. Fellow officers responded and stopped the vehicle.

They found a six-year-old in the backseat of the van without a proper child seat, the spokesman said.

Sanchez, a Bronx native, was placed under arrest and a computer check showed that he had an active warrant for reckless driving. He is now facing charges of assault in the second degree and obstructing Government administration.

His vehicle was impounded.

The officer who was struck in his left leg was taken to an area hospital for treatment and has since been released.

One of the biggest problems in our society is this kind of attitude and behavior. So many young people have no respect for any kind of authority except to their own selfish desires.
