A 79-year-old man was punched in the face during broad daylight Saturday in an unprovoked attack at a subway station in Corona.

The senior was standing on the 7-train platform at the Junction Boulevard station at around 2:30 p.m. when he was approached by a man who slugged him in the face for no reason, police said.

The victim was punched so hard that he fell backward and hit his head against a wall, cops said.

The 79-year-old was transported to Elmhurst Hospital in stable condition with a laceration to the back of his head.

No words were exchanged between the victim and the suspect during this incident, police said.
