77-Year-Old Bicyclist Dead After Riding Into Unknown Object in Elmhurst Thursday

A 77-year-old bicyclist is dead after falling off his bike in Elmhurst Thursday night after striking an unknown object on the road, police said.

Lin Wen-Chiang, a Corona resident, was riding his bike at around 11:15 p.m. when he hit an object on the roadway in the vicinity of 40th Drive and 95th Street.

Wen-Chiang suffered head injuries when he hit the pavement from the fall. He was transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Elmhurst, where he was pronounced deceased. It isn’t clear what object he struck on the road.

The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the crash.

Riding a bike in NYC at any time for any demo is dangerous. What is a 77 yr old man doing riding a bike at night? I am 73 and stopped driving at night because of having senior eyes.
