July 8, 2021 By Michael Dorgan

A 17-year-old was shot dead outside an Elmhurst bar Wednesday in what police say was a drug-related killing.

Eduardo Hernandez was gunned down in front of Sabor Latino Restaurant and Bar, located at 95-35 40 Rd., at around 4:25 p.m., according to police.

Police responded to a 911 call of a shooting in the area and, upon arrival, discovered Hernandez with two gunshot wounds to his torso.

Hernandez, who is from 101st Street in Corona, had a BB gun in his possession, police said.

He was transported to Elmhurst Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the suspect in the case fled northbound on 40th Road in a black sedan. There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.

It is the second fatal shooting on the street in just over a year. Dante Sartillian, 21, was shot dead on 40th Road on June 30, 2020.
