Police are looking for a man who allegedly tore down an autumn display outside Council Member Francisco Moya’s Corona office building earlier this month.
The suspect allegedly ripped down seasonal decorations that were mounted onto the outside wall of Moya’s office building, located at 106-01 Corona Ave., on Saturday, Dec. 5 at around 8 p.m., police said.
The decorations reportedly cost $3,700, according to police.
Moya posted a photo of the damage the morning after the vandalism occurred.
“[The display] was one that was put here for the community to enjoy…,” he said in the video posted to Facebook. “To wake up and see things like this makes me very sad that people would go out there and really try to destroy and damage a piece of artwork that was for them.”

The same night, someone also destroyed parts of a holiday display that Moya’s office organized at the nearby William F. Moore Park. The winter wonderland installation was unveiled less than two days earlier during a tree lighting ceremony.
It’s unclear whether the man who ripped down the decorations outside Moya’s office also tore down the Christmas decorations at the park.
Police said the suspect who allegedly vandalized the office display is a man between 20 and 30 years old. The NYPD released a video of the man.

Perhaps the man who tore them down was making a statement about how Moya does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to combat crime in his district.
