A brand new concourse and seven new gates will open at LaGuardia Airport next week, as part of the airport’s ongoing $8 billion transformation.

The western concourse and gates will welcome travelers through Terminal B of the airport, beginning Aug. 5, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday.

The new 210,000-square-foot concourse will include an indoor park, touchless restrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, a children’s play space, a pet relief area and other high-end amenities.

When the second phase of the terminal is completed at the end of 2021, the western concourse will include a total of 17 new gates and will primarily serve American Airlines. The concourse connects to the arrivals and departures hall by an elevated pedestrian bridge.

The opening of the new facilities comes after the 850,000-square-foot arrivals and departures hall in Terminal B opened to the public last month.

“With the opening of this new concourse, LaGuardia Airport’s Terminal B is hitting two major milestones in one summer and moving closer to its full transformation into a 21st Century travel facility,” Governor Cuomo said.

The state first broke ground on the total overhaul of the East Elmhurst airport in 2016 and new facilities within it have been opened on a rolling basis, as the airport continues to serve customers.

Can’t wait for construction for this to be over. And the construction by the Grand Central/Van Wyck/Jackie Robinson interchanges. They built the Empire State Building in 1930 in only took 14 months, yet it takes 10 years to fix a highway.
