Four recently vacated store fronts on Roosevelt Avenue are likely to be converted into a Planet Fitness if permits are approved.

The budget gym filed permits with the Department of Buildings on Nov. 25 to modify the space, which is on the north side of Roosevelt Avenue, between 86th and 87th streets. The interior renovations, structural work and plumbing installations are estimated to cost about $451,500.

While the the existing building will remain, Planet Fitness needs to obtain a variance from the city Board of Standards and Appeals to open a “physical culture establishment.” The application was filed on Sept. 16, and is marked pending.

If it is approved, Planet Fitness will be allowed to operate a fitness center on “a portion of the existing building’s ground and cellar floors.”

Community Board 3 will discuss the matter at their next meeting on Dec. 17.

The four previous tenants all resided on one New York City tax lot, which is owned by 8601 Roosevelt LLC. The storefronts were formerly occupied by a Payless Shoe Source, R J Furniture, a restaurant and one other business.

Planet Fitness advertises memberships at $10/month and caters to a less fitness-focused clientele, claiming “No Gymtimidation.”

There is already a Planet Fitness in Astoria at 30-33 Steinway Street.

Police from the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills and Transit District 20 are looking for a man, who is built like an NFL player, for allegedly groping a 50-year-old woman as she waited for the subway near the Queens Center Mall in Elmhurst on Monday morning.

The victim was standing on the southbound M/R platform at the 59th Avenue subway station on the Queens Boulevard line when a stranger approached her and touched her left buttocks, police said. The brute fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The woman was not injured during the incident.
