Elmhurst Woman Struck Dead by Driver While Crossing 57th Avenue: NYPD

A woman was fatally struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross an Elmhurst street Friday morning, police said.

Masae Takeda, 66, was trying to cross 57th Avenue at around 11:15 a.m. when she was hit by a man driving a black 2019 Infinity SUV. The driver plowed into her while making a right hand turn onto 57th Avenue from Van Horn Street, according to police.

Takeda was pronounced dead at the scene – just two blocks away from her 58th Avenue home.

The driver’s details have not been released and no summonses or arrests have been made at this time, police said.

The police are still investigating the crash.
