A second man has been arrested for the fatal stabbing of a homeless man in Jackson Heights in June.

Police arrested Elmhurst resident Jose Chavez Del Castillo, 32, on Tuesday and charged him with manslaughter, gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Chavez Del Castillo is alleged to have fatally stabbed 40-year-old Fabian Cymry shortly after midnight on June 2.

At 12:46 a.m. on June 2, police responded to a 911 call and found Cymry with stab wounds to his torso at the corner of 31st Avenue and 91st Street. EMS transported him to Elmhurst Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries five days later.

Police arrested a first suspect, 31-year-old Luis Lara Del Castillo of Jackson Heights, just weeks after Cymry’s death. He was arrested on June 21 and charged with manslaughter, gang assault and criminal possession of a weapon as well.

Two thieves were caught on camera stealing an ATM at an East Elmhurst convenience store just before Christmas.

The NYPD says the two perpetrators belong to a three-man crew that has broken into 49 commercial establishments across Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan, and the Bronx in the last four months of 2024. In each incident, two of the crooks haul away ATM machines before speeding away from each crime scene in stolen vehicles driven by a getaway driver.
