Astoria Boulevard and 93rd Street (Google Maps)

A 50-year-old man from Jamaica Hills was fatally struck by a car while crossing Astoria Boulevard in East Elmhurst Sunday morning.
German Gutierrez was attempting to cross the boulevard north to south near 93rd Street at about 7 a.m. when a 66-year-old man driving a 2016 Lexus SUV westbound struck him, according to a preliminary investigation by the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad.
Gutierrez was crossing Astoria Boulevard outside the marked crosswalk, police said.
When EMS arrived on the scene Gutierrez was unconscious. Emergency workers rushed him to NYC Health + Hospitals Elmhurst where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation is ongoing.

When this first happened, it was reported that he was crossing in the middle of the street, but from the picture, it looks like that area needs a traffic light or a stop sign.

Umm, and what do bike lanes have to do with this poor man who was crossing in the crosswalk with the light? There are no bike lanes at this location, and a bicycle had NOTHING to do with this. You’re just a troll who gets other bike haters to jump on your bandwagon, so sad….
are u even from here? plain and simple he jaywalked and it’s unfortunate that this was the turnout. the only crosswalks are 92nd and 94th.
