Man Arrested in Connection With Fatal Elmhurst Shooting

Police have arrested and charged a man in connection with the fatal shooting of an Elmhurst resident that took place in August.

The charges relate to the murder of Jasper Davis, 28, on Sunday, Aug. 25 at about 5 p.m. in the vicinity of Manila Street and Kneeland Avenue.

Jeffrey Palomino, 32, from Kew Gardens, allegedly shot Davis in the head and the victim was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Palomino was charged with one count of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

Police did not provide any details about a motive for the crime.

The motive was likely drugs, as the victim was arrested a few years ago in a big drug bust in Woodside.

Police from the 112th Precinct in Forest Hills and Transit District 20 are looking for a man, who is built like an NFL player, for allegedly groping a 50-year-old woman as she waited for the subway near the Queens Center Mall in Elmhurst on Monday morning.

The victim was standing on the southbound M/R platform at the 59th Avenue subway station on the Queens Boulevard line when a stranger approached her and touched her left buttocks, police said. The brute fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction. The woman was not injured during the incident.
