Forest Hills Resident Climbs Unisphere to Highlight Climate Crisis

(Extinction Rebellion NYC)

Sept. 9, 2019 By Shane O’Brien

A Forest Hills resident climbed to the top of the Unisphere in Flushing Meadows-Corona Park on Friday to hang a banner advocating for climate change action.

Glen Schleyer, a retired attorney, climbed the 12-story sphere and hung a banner that read “Zero CO2 2025, Climate Justice Now.” He was arrested at the scene.

Schleyer is a member of Extinction Rebellion New York, a protest organization that is calling on governments around the world to cut greenhouse gas emissions and carbon dioxide. The group wants to eradicate greenhouse gas emissions by 2025.

Schleyer chose Flushing Meadows as the venue for his protest since it was the site of the 1964/65 World’s Fair. The fair’s theme was “peace through understanding.”

The banner was draped over the nation of Brazil to bring attention to the fires that are destroying the Amazon Rainforest, according to Extinction Rebellion NY.

The Forest Hills resident was the first person since 1976 to scale the steel structure.

But Trump told me climate change is a hoax from China

He was right about the hurricane going to Alabama. All scientists disagree with him on climate change, but he tweeted about it once. All the evidence I need.

Let’s keep it simple, there is no such thing as climate change..of course we are getting hotter. We have been coming out of the ice age.

Whatever

The crisis is in this guy’s mind. Climate change has been proven wrong by a bunch of scientists who are bullied to keep their findings in their files and not in magazines and publications.

“Climate change has been ‘proven’ wrong by a bunch of scientists who are owned by the fossil fuel industry and whose salary depends on not believing it.”
