Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is already a social media and TV sensation.

On May 1, you can watch on Netflix how she gained that prominence and rose to power.

“Knock Down the House” shows Ocasio-Cortez’s time on the campaign trail leading up to her historic primary upset against powerful incumbent Democrat Joe Crowley.

The congresswoman’s campaign is one of the four political bids by progressive female candidates that the Sundance Film Festival award-winning documentary follows.

Netflix acquired the rights to the film back in February for a record $10 million—the biggest documentary sale ever brokered at a film festival.

Director Rachel Lears said the platform will allow the film to “reach huge audiences worldwide, including viewers who may not usually watch independent documentaries.”

“We’re also very excited to be working with Netflix on a campaign to spark wider cultural conversations about our democracy and how it can continue to evolve,” Lears said in a statement.

Ocasio-Cortez spoke to the attendees at the Sundance Film Festival via live feed when the film was screened in January.

Unfortunately, for what could be a bright, promising career for Ms Ocasio Cortez, is dimming quickly by the day. She has chosen to align herself with the new radical wing of the Democratic party instead of learning and being mentored by senior and more mainstream members of Congress. Support for identity politics and alienating herself from America’s core strengths and values will be her demise.

Haha I wonder who is pushing her…. Big banks? Green mafia? Everyone knows big oil pushes Republicans but someone has to be pushing this young one too – way too much attention out of nowhere. And keep in mind – sponsors expect returns in investment. $10million for movie rights – I supposed she’s gonna pay 90% tax on it ??

We love her here in Jackson Heights. Her ideas, all of them make so much sense, and it’s time for a change in this country.

Op-Ed | Hochul: Action is Imperative on Shoplifting, but Violent Crime is Just Fine

Apr. 29, 2024 By Council Member James F. Gennaro

Negotiations regarding the New York State budget have just concluded a few days ago and a budget has passed after more than two weeks of delays. But while Gov. Kathy Hochul has proclaimed this year’s ‘bold agenda’ aims to make New York ‘safer,’ there hasn’t been so much as a whisper about the safety issue New Yorkers actually care about – New York States’s dangerous bail reform laws and the State’s absence of a ‘dangerousness standard,’ which would allow judges to detain without bail those defendants that pose a present a clear and present danger to our communities. (The 49 other states and the federal government have a dangerousness standard. NY State is the only state that lacks this essential protection from the State’s most dangerous offenders.)
