Man struck by bus in Jackson Heights last night, victim in critical condition

A man is in critical condition after being hit by an MTA bus last night in Jackson Heights, police said.

The 46-year-old man, who witnesses said appeared intoxicated, walked between cars in to the street on Roosevelt Avenue just east of 78th Street when he was hit by the bus around 8:55 p.m., according to the NYPD.

The man was taken to Elmhurst hospital in critical condition.

The 54-year-old bus driver stayed on the scene and there were no arrests.

An investigation in to the accident is still ongoing.

The number of grand larcenies across Queens was down during the 28-day period from March 18 to April 14, compared to the same period of time last year, according to the latest crime stats released by the NYPD Monday. At the same time, rapes and robberies decreased significantly in northern and southern Queens, respectively.
